Governing Bodies

Here we introduce you to the plethora of archery and archery related organizations & associations (governing bodies) from local to global. This is a work in progress. Please feel free to share any we may have not yet gotten to.

World Archery Logo

World Archery is the international federation for the Olympic sport of archery.

National Field Archery Society Logo

The National Field Archery Society is a British organisation that exists to foster and promote field archery as a sport. Information in this article is taken from items in newsletters of the NFAS. 

International Field Archery Association Logo

The International Field Archery Association (I.F.A.A.) is an archery association that was formally founded in 1970 (even though tournaments were already organised in Europe from 1967) when a group of field archers from the USA, Sweden, England, Scotland, Wales and Canada agreed on a set of basic rules by which Field Archery tournaments would be run. We now represent over 50 000 field archers and have more than 45 member countries from all continents. 

USA Archey Logo

The mission of USA Archery is to provide the necessary resources to foster strong athlete participation, competition and training in the sport of archery. Membership in USA Archery is open to everyone involved in all disciplines of archery including target, field and 3-D. USA Archery sanctions more than 200 events annually and conducts indoor, outdoor and collegiate National Championships as well as the United States Archery Team Qualifier Series. USA Archery also provides youth and adult archery programs and clubs throughout the United States, and certifies archery instructors, coaches and judges.

Since 1953 the Archery Trade Association is the organization for manufacturers, retailers, distributors, sales representatives and others working in the archery and bowhunting industry. 

Florida Archery Association Logo

The Florida Archery Association is the state charter holder for both the National Archery Field Archery Association and USA Archery.

The NFAA is a non-profit corporation dedicated to the sport of archery, and is the largest field archery organization in the world.

International Bowhunting Organization Logo

The purpose of the IBO is to promote, encourage and foster the sport of bowhunting through competition.

Archery Association of India Logo

Since 1973, AAI is the national governing body of archery in India. It's headquarters are located in New Delhi, and is a non-profit, government funded organisation affiliated by World Archery Federation (IAF), Asian Archery Federation (AAF) and Indian Olympic Association (IOA) It is responsible for organising, promoting and controlling the sport of archery in India.
